Are we a comparison site?

Whilst we do 'compare' a range of products and services, our sole aim is to find the best deals and give our users information and tips on how to save money. Hence we are much more than just another comparison site. We strive to be seen as a trusted and reliable consumer information site - staying true to our slogan 'stopping Aussies getting ripped off'.

Whilst there are some very good comparison sites in Oz at the moment, many of them DON'T compare every product available - they generally only promote the products for companies who pay them to be on their website. We're different in that we'll research every product and service available and show you the very best deals, no matter what. After all you want to see the best deals in Australia not the best deals from a websites 'favourite advertisers'!

How do you know our information is correct and up to date?

We have skilled researchers who use a variety of sources to ensure that the best deals are always found. 'Mystery shopping' is also carried out to ensure the deals are genuine. As soon as we see a 'best buy' we'll update our article.

We also clearly show you the date when our research was carried out at the top of the article, thus you know we are accurate and up-to-date (Unfortunately we have found some comparison sites that claim to show the latest deals, but they are showing deals that no longer exist, or better ones are now available).

How do we fund the site?

OK, we've got to make money - we need to pay our staff as, although they love their jobs, they've still got bills to pay! The hosting and IT costs also need covering as well. So we fund the site as follows:

1) The links that have an "*" next to them are links to businesses that pay us a commission if you buy one of their products or services.
2) We also make money from providing businesses with banner advertising (these are generally at the top or right hand side of the webpage).

Now the sceptics amongst you may ask - "how do we know you're not simply promoting the businesses that advertise with you?" That's a fair question and we're all for that. So the answer is as follows:

i) Our research is completely independent. Firstly we look for the best deals. When the article is finished our sales team will approach the business (or third parties that act on the business's behalf such as an advertising agency or affiliate company) that we've selected as offering a 'best deal'. We will then offer them the opportunity of a paid link. Advertisers generally love the links because our traffic is far more qualified than generic search engines such as Google or Yahoo. Plus they are being shown in a 'best deal' category!
ii) If the business does not want a paid link, we will still tell you, the reader, about that business's best deal - that's what we are about and that's what you want to know. However there will be no link available to that business - that's what they have to pay for.
iii) Banner advertising is completely independent. This is the same as most websites that you'll see with banner advertising on the top or sides of the page. If a business wants to buy advertising space it will have no influence whatsoever on our articles. Our research is done completely independently to our advertising sales.

How can we claim to be completely HONEST & INDEPENDENT?

WE WILL ONLY PROMOTE A PRODUCT OR SERVICE IN ONE OF OUR ARTICLES IF IT IS A PROVEN "BEST DEAL" IN IT'S CATEGORY AND PRICE RANGE.

But how do you know we are really doing our job. Well to prove we're honest and independent here's what we promise:

1) We've provided a forum that allows our users, including you, to post any comments FOR EVERYONE TO SEE on any of the articles. So if you don't agree with something we've said let us know. We also don't mind businesses posting information on our website but PLEASE ensure you disclose your business details.

2) Our researchers are paid to find the best deals around. They are not paid on sales or adverts sold. If they don't find the best deals they have failed in their job.

3) As mentioned above, we highlight any paid links we receive with an "*" - this falls in line with our policy of being completely open and honest and showing you how we make our money.
